Christina Macpherson
Come join us as we take a walk through the daily musings of Christina Macpherson. This inspiring gypsy is an extremely talented writer, actress and model. Christina hails from the Pacific Islands and is widely known in Australia for her high-end modeling work with many large bohemian brands and labels. She was so sweet when we reached out to her for this interview. Christina was a joy to collaborate with and we can’t wait to share a little bit more about her bohemian lifestyle with you. Happy Monday, beautiful souls!
1). Where are you from? Tell us little bit about your background and how that has shaped you into who you are today.
I was born in Australia but grew up in the Pacific Islands and England before returning to Australia. I think traveling a lot whilst I was growing up and living in opposing cultures has allowed me insight into a lot of different thoughts and perspectives. I’m very lucky to have had the childhood I did.
2). What does a day in the life look like for you? Walk us through a typical daily routine.I travel a lot and haven’t had a base for a good year now, so having certain mini-routines is pretty important for me to stay focused and on track. So it usually goes something like this: I get up and have a big glass of water, go for a run on the beach/gym/street, breakie & coffee, answer emails, try to write or finish some articles, get distracted, write some more, get distracted again, and then usually finish off the day with a workout or yoga. If I have a shoot on though my day looks a little different!
3). How would you describe your personal style? Who have been the most influential fashion icons in your life?
I’d say my style is pretty relaxed and minimal, with a bit of boho in there. My parents lived through the 60’s/70’s and I grew up in a household where music was key, so I guess I was influenced a lot by my favourite musos of that time like Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Melanie etc. Mum always took me op-shopping and it’s a tradition I still do with her (and by myself) to this day. I love flowy dresses and wide leg pants – for me comfort is key and if you feel comfortable, you feel more confident.
4). If you could switch closets with one person for a day, who would it be?
Whoa hard question! I really have no idea!
5). When did you begin your modeling career and what is the best thing about being a model?
I’ve always dabbled in modelling but it became a proper job about 2 years ago. I studied Creative Writing & Theatre at uni, so modelling to me is a lot like acting – I always ask brands what the theme of the shoot is and what kind of character they want me (as the model) to represent. I love that part of modelling – to play all kinds of different characters. But the best thing is the people and places – making lasting friendships and travelling to places you may not have otherwise gone is what makes this gig so good.
6). How do you balance your three passions: writing, acting, and modeling? I’m lucky in that I have a brilliant manager who knows me well enough to know how I like to work and how much emphasis I want to put on particular work. Right now, I’m focussing a lot on my writing and so my manager schedules shoots in around what will work for me. However acting-wise, I’m not in a position to be choosey with, so whenever I get called to an exciting audition I just drop and go, go, go. RIght now, the balance is good, but that can easily change!
7). Three things you can’t live without?
Family, the ocean, books!8). Favorite beauty secret or tip to share with our readers?
hmmmm…I’m not sure if I’m the right person to be asked this! For me, I only really stick to a couple of things: In the morning, I always drink a cup of hot water with apple cider vinegar and lemon – it makes me feel refreshed and it’s really good for your digestion. I also think rose-hip oil is the best thing in the world – I use it all the time while travelling. And if you’re near a beach, swim everyday – even just a quick dip. Personally, it’s so good for my skin, hair and most importantly mind!
9). What’s next for you?
More of the same but on a bigger scale! I’ll be wandering around the globe for the next few months with work scheduled in New Zealand, Canada, China and Fiji.
